If Will Smith represents Philly rap in the '80s and '90s ("In West Philadelphia born and raised...") then The Roots are the faces of Philly hip hop in the 21st century — quite literally, with the November 7 announcement of the eight-month long collaboration with the group and the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program to create "The Roots Mural Project."
eVENTsHelp Out and Have Fun!
This party is an annual event on December 10th that provides an amazing day of fun for 500+ Impoverished Inner city kids (elementary school age), who are selected by their schools and shelters in Philadelphia. The kids enjoy a hot meal, musical entertainment, clowns, activities, carnival games, receive books, hats and gloves, have a photo with Santa, and select a present from hundreds of gifts in Toyland!! These children, who would have had nothing for the holiday, go home with not only essential winter gear and school supplies, but also an awesome lasting memory of having fun and being loved by everyone. This is a great oppurtunity that you can really make a difference in.
